Dr. Davlatbek Abduvaliev is a distinguished accounting and finance professional with almost two decades of academic and business experience in Central Asia. He has held various teaching and research positions at the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (selected and recruited via Fuqua Graduate School of Business at Duke University, USA), KIMEP University (Kazakhstan), and Hofstra University (USA). He has taught students of various levels from undergraduate to MBA to Executive MBA and has been awarded a number of awards for teaching excellence. Dr. Abduvaliev’s teaching experience is diverse and encompasses Corporate Finance, Financial Statement Analysis and Management Accounting. He has also published a number of textbook chapters, instructional materials and conference papers.
Dr. Abduvaliev possesses significant industry and consulting experience having worked as Independent Director and Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Aura GmbH, as Associate Vice President and Chief Finance Officer at KIMEP University, and as Finance Director at the Center for International Programmes (a government entity overseeing the Presidential Scholarship programme in Kazakhstan). He has advised a number of local and multinational companies as a management consultant and a business trainer. Amongst his clients are the Big Four, the National Bank of Kazakhstan, large commercial banks, several oil and gas companies (Agip KCO, KPO), etc.
Dr. Abduvaliev has received his Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance degree from the University of Manchester (U.K.) and his MBA in Finance and Banking degree from Hofstra University (USA). He has been awarded the designations of a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
