About the Programmes

All of our programmes are designed and administered according to the best global standards, taught in English, and give students an opportunity to obtain not only a University degree, but also either an international professional diploma or a second degree from one of our partner universities.

 

The main goal of all degrees offered by the University is to equip students with professional knowledge and practical skills that will always be in demand in leading sectors of the economy, both by employers in Uzbekistan and the neighbouring countries, as well as by international companies. This will give our graduates an opportunity for employment anywhere in the world and will undoubtedly make them suitable for challenging, well-paid jobs. 

 

All students entering the University will enrol into the Foundation programme during their 1st year of studies. In the 2nd year, they will need to choose the undergraduate degree programme in which to continue their studies.

 

The University offers several Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree programmes with specialisations in Accounting & Finance and Banking & Finance. We also offer the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree programme that gives students core management knowledge and skills and allows them to choose a concentration in one of the four fields: Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Project Management, E-Business and Digital Marketing, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management (in Tourism and Hospitality).

Pre-foundation Programme

The Pre-foundation programme is a 36-week programme for students who plan to study at the British Management University in Tashkent (BMU). The course enables students to develop the necessary skills to access a mainstream course whilst expanding upon their confidence and social skills. A strong emphasis is placed on the teaching of essential skills such as literacy and numeracy.

What makes our Pre-foundation Programme different?

  ALL English courses will be taught by native speakers from the U.K., Ireland, USA, Australia and other English-speaking countries

  Interactive group work will be used extensively to enable participants to communicate effectively in the English-speaking environment

  Mathematics will be taught two languages: Uzbek or Russian to cover / explain the key concepts and then in English to prepare the learners for the English speaking environment they will have at the University

  There will be the provision of extra tutorials when it is needed or in accordance with the specific demand or wish of students

  Students who have successfully accomplished the programme will be able to enter BMU Foundation Year without IELTS certificates and the university Maths entrance exam.

  The top 3 graduates of the Pre-Foundation Programme will be awarded an academic grant that covers 50% of the tuition cost of the University programme.

Programme outline

These courses are designed to help high school students or recent school leavers achieve the English language and Mathematics skills sufficient to enrol in the Foundation Programme in September 2022.

English Entry Requirements

All participants will be given a free-of-charge placement test to determine their level of English before being assigned to a specific group based on 2 levels: Pre-intermediate (B1) or Intermediate (B1+). Applicants at the Advanced Intermediate level (B2 or IELTS > 5.5) will be able to join an advanced language group.

Mathematics Entry Requirements

All participants will be given a free-of-charge placement test to determine their level of Mathematics before being assigned to a specific group based on 2 levels: Beginners (MB) or Intermediates (MI).

Dates and Rates

Duration: 2 terms (18 weeks per term)
Start: October, 2021
End: May, 2022
Frequency: 4 times per week, 2 hours per class
Tuition Fees: 4 500 000 UZS per term, payable before the beginning of each term (9 000 000 UZS total for the Pre-foundation Programme)

Books and Resources

The main textbooks are “Open Mind Pre-intermediate (B1)” or “Open Mind Intermediate (B1+)” depending on the level of the participants and Essential Business: Vocabulary Builder and Essential Business: Grammar Builder that will be complimented with online and audio-visual materials, as well as teaching materials prepared by our experienced instructors. For the Mathematics module, we will use the combination of personalized textbooks.

Foundation Programme

The Foundation programme is designed to facilitate smooth progression into our undergraduate degree programmes and a successful acquisition of international degrees and prestigious professional diplomas. The Programme is taught in English and covers both English language skills and core business concepts that students will use during further degree studies.

 

Upon successful completion of the Foundation, students will receive a Certificate of Completion, which confirms that they have attained the required standards in academic and business English, as well as in the course-related skills such as quantitative methods and IT for continuing into the University’s undergraduate degree programmes.

 

The Foundation programme has been developed with input from and will be quality controlled by, a top British university. It is administered during the full 1st year of undergraduate studies at the University and is required for all entering students. The Programme has the following structure:

 Quantitative Methods for Business I OR Mathematics for Finance and Business I

 

Spring semester (January – June):

Bachelor's Programmes

Bachelor’s (BSC) in Accounting and Finance

This Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree programme is aligned with the competencies and requirements of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, U.K. (the ACCA). Its main goal is to produce qualified young professionals skilled at applying the International Financial Reporting Standards (the IFRS) as well best global standards in management accounting and audit. Graduates will be able to work not only to top accounting and auditing firms (e.g., PWC, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, KMPG) but also in various accounting and finance role anywhere globally.

Students will also have an opportunity to earn two professional qualifications from the ACCA: the Diploma in Accounting and Business (upon passing the three Applied Knowledge papers) and the Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business (upon passing the six Applied Skills papers).

Students who have passed the first two levels of the ACCA programme (Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills) and successfully completed the Research and Analysis Project, will be eligible to receive BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brooks University (U.K.), a top 400 global university according to the QS Global Ranking.

Bachelor's (BSC) in Banking and Finance (with an Investment Option)

This Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree programme prepares students for a career in international finance and banking and finance by educating young professionals in the areas of financial intermediation and financial markets and instruments to be able to adapt to constantly evolving industry standards, and to solve new challenging problems of the future finance industry. The programme is also aligned with the competencies and requirements of the Chartered Financial Analyst (the CFA) Institute, USA and is aimed at equipping young professionals with globally accepted knowledge and locally applicable skills to start their successful careers. Graduates will be qualified to start a career in an international or a local bank, an insurance company, or an investment firm. Other examples include jobs in management accountancy, civil service, and various finance-related roles in different industries.

Investment Option
This option is suitable for students interested in sharpening their skills in the field of investments and international capital markets. In addition to all regular requirements, students need to pass two exams (normally during thieir 4th year of studies) administered by the CFA (the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute, USA):
CFA Investment Foundations
CFA Level I Examination
An “Investment Specialist” designation will be added to the BMU degree diploma for those who successfully complete the above-mentioned requirements.

Bachelor’s (BBA) with Logistics and Supply Chain Management

This Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree programme with a concentration offers students expertise in various aspects of international supply chain management including international logistics, transportation, and trade, and enables them to acquire a number of techniques commonly used by industry practitioners. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective logistics and supply chain managers and supervisors in successful multinational and local companies.

Students will also have an opportunity to earn the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) qualification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA, which will award them with a globally recognized diploma and help launch a successful career in project management or other fields.

Bachelor’s (BBA) with Project Management

This Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree programme with a concentration is aligned with the competencies and requirements of the Project Management Institute, USA (the PMI). It provides the knowledge and skills that can be applied to a wide range of project management-related job roles in multiple sectors such as: IT, engineering, logistics, construction, event management, hospitality and many others.

Students will also have an opportunity to earn the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) qualification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA, which will award them with a globally recognized diploma and help launch a successful career in project management or other fields.

Bachelor’s (BBA) with e-Business and Digital Marketing

This Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree programme with a concentration focuses on various aspects of the digital marketing environment, including marketing analytics, search engine optimisation, social media marketing, etc. It teaches students the latest marketing practices and cutting-edge techniques used by successful organisations competing in today’s increasingly complex digital and global markets.

Students will also have an opportunity to earn the Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), U.K., which will award that with a globally recognized qualification and help launch a successful career in the field of marketing.

BACHELOR’S (BBA) WITH ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION MANAGEMENT (IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY)

This Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree programme with a concentration equips students with creative knowledge and skills used in tourism and hospitality management that will allow them to adapt and be successful in the increasingly diverse and dynamic business environment. It is designed to meet the long-term needs of Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing tourism and hospitality industry.

Students will also have an opportunity to earn the Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), U.K., which will award that with a globally recognized qualification and help launch a successful career in the field of marketing.

Additional (Optional) concentration in IT and Business Analytics

The IT and Business Analytics concentration at BMU is targeted for students who want to develop skills to obtain, manage, analyze and visualize data to gain a competitive advantage in the world of strategic business data-driven decision making. This concentration will help students gain important competencies in programming, statistics, machine learning and decision science. Graduates of this concentration will be able to perform data-driven prediction, modeling and optimization within their future professional activity.

Master's Programmes (2022)

Master’s (MBA) in Finance and Investments

This Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programme is aligned with the competencies and requirements of the Chartered Financial Analyst (the CFA) Institute, USA and is aimed at equipping young professionals with globally-accepted knowledge and locally-applicable skills to start their successful careers in the finance industry.

Young professionals interested in starting or continuing working towards their CFA designation, will be given an opportunity and support to take CFA Level I and II examination.

Master’s (MBA) in Accounting and Data Analysis

This Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programme is aligned with the competencies and requirements of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, U.K. (the ACCA) and is aimed at giving students a clear pathway to the ACCA qualification and membership. This programme will also allow students to obtain practical experience with data analysis and knowledge of how to turn business intelligence into real-world outcomes. They will learn to combine understanding of statistics, data filtering skills, and effective application of the results of the analysis to quickly and efficiently resolve various business issues.

Students who have passed all three levels of the ACCA programme and successfully completed two more modules (Global Issues for the Finance Professional and Strategic Financial Project via distant learning from University College London) will be eligible to receive the degree of MSc in Professional Accountancy from the University of London (U.K.).

Master’s (MBA) with Project Management

This Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programme with a concentration provides global-quality training for students interested in learning in how to use the cross-disciplinary knowledge and skills of project management to become successful leaders in a wide range of industries from large-scale industrial projects to car manufacturing to IT-startups. The curriculum integrates leading theories and applicable skills from various disciplines, including finance, marketing, operations, and strategic management.

Students will also have an opportunity to earn the Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA, which will award them with a globally recognized diploma and help launch or continue a successful career in project management or other fields.

Master’s (MBA) with Healthcare Management

This Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programme with a concentration gives students an opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to progress to senior management and leadership roles in healthcare. The curriculum is designed to develop the core knowledge of concepts and business models, a strong understanding of processes and practices, as well as leadership, financial and project management skills imperative for success in the healthcare management sector.

Students interested in receiving a second MBA degree (top-up) from a British partner university, will be able to do so by either spending one semester in the U.K. or by completing the approved top-up programme in Tashkent during their last semester of studies at the University.
