About the Centre

The English Centre provides the best English language courses in Tashkent for those who plan to study at the British Management University in Tashkent (hereinafter, the University) or at a different higher education institution in an English-speaking country. We also have a language programme designed for working professionals wishing to boost their career by gaining conversational and professional fluency in English.  Our courses will build confidence through interactive teaching of the four key communication skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

What makes our English Programmes different?

  ALL English courses will be taught by native speakers from the U.K., Ireland, USA, Australia and other English-speaking countries

  Real-life business scenarios and actual business cases based on the instructors’ rich teaching and business experience will be used in the classroom

About the Pre-foundation Programme

The Pre-foundation programme is a 36-week programme for students who plan to study at the British Management University in Tashkent (BMU). The course enables students to develop the necessary skills to access a mainstream course whilst expanding upon their confidence and social skills. A strong emphasis is placed on the teaching of essential skills such as literacy and numeracy.

What makes our Pre-foundation Programme different?

  ALL English courses will be taught by native speakers from the U.K., Ireland, USA, Australia and other English-speaking countries

  Interactive group work will be used extensively to enable participants to communicate effectively in the English-speaking environment

  Mathematics will be taught two languages: Uzbek or Russian to cover / explain the key concepts and then in English to prepare the learners for the English speaking environment they will have at the University

  There will be the provision of extra tutorials when it is needed or in accordance with the specific demand or wish of students

  Students who have successfully accomplished the programme will be able to enter BMU Foundation Year without IELTS certificates and the university Maths entrance exam.

  The top 3 graduates of the Pre-Foundation Programme will be awarded an academic grant that covers 50% of the tuition cost of the University programme.

Programme outline

These courses are designed to help high school students or recent school leavers achieve the English language and Mathematics skills sufficient to enrol in the Foundation Programme in September 2022.

English Entry Requirements

All participants will be given a free-of-charge placement test to determine their level of English before being assigned to a specific group based on 2 levels: Pre-intermediate (B1) or Intermediate (B1+). Applicants at the Advanced Intermediate level (B2 or IELTS > 5.5) will be able to join an advanced language group.

Mathematics Entry Requirements

All participants will be given a free-of-charge placement test to determine their level of Mathematics before being assigned to a specific group based on 2 levels: Beginners (MB) or Intermediates (MI).

Dates and Rates

Duration: 2 terms (18 weeks per term)
Start: October, 2021
End: May, 2022
Frequency: 4 times per week, 2 hours per class
Tuition Fees: 4 500 000 UZS per term, payable before the beginning of each term (9 000 000 UZS total for the Pre-foundation Programme)

Books and Resources

The main textbooks are “Open Mind Pre-intermediate (B1)” or “Open Mind Intermediate (B1+)” depending on the level of the participants and Essential Business: Vocabulary Builder and Essential Business: Grammar Builder that will be complimented with online and audio-visual materials, as well as teaching materials prepared by our experienced instructors. For the Mathematics module, we will use the combination of personalized textbooks.
