David Collett was born and educated in the UK. He has extensive experience in English Language Teaching (ELT) at the British Council in Malaysia, Portugal, Sri Lanka and Tunisia and in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at universities in the UK, China and Kazakhstan. His research interests are exploring cultural influences on student engagement and peer review, with a specific focus on East Asia. He has been teaching in the UK higher education since 2015 and holds a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UK).
As a Senior Lecturer in Social Studies at British Management University (BMU) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, he draws on his experience gained from the supervision of master’s dissertations in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Dundee, UK and from assisting in the delivery of a Global MBA programme at De Montfort University, Kazakhstan.
At BMU, his professional development goals are to enhance Academic Skills modules and embark on a Doctorate in Education at the University of Bath, UK.
