About British Management University

Founded in 2020 following a Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan, British Management University (BMU) was established in response to the national strategy to diversify higher education. BMU’s mission is to be the leading management university in Central Asia, recognised globally for educating innovative leaders and creating positive societal impact.

BMU welcomed its first cohort of students in 2020 and has since grown into a dynamic academic community. In 2023, the University moved to a purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus, supporting high-quality education and an active student life. Today, BMU serves nearly 1,500 students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

BMU offers internationally recognised degrees validated by leading UK partners, including the University of Reading and Queen Margaret University. The University also maintains strategic partnerships with professional bodies such as ACCA and continues to expand its global and professional network to provide students with a truly international education.

JUNE 2019

Founding Team

A dedicated working group is formed to lay the foundation for British Management University, bringing together experts and visionaries to plan the future institution.

MAY 2020

Official License

The decree from the President’s Office is issued and the university license is officially granted, marking the formal beginning of BMU’s journey.

SEPTEMBER 2020

First Students

BMU welcomes its first cohort of students. Online teaching commences in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.

APRIL 2021

Reading Recognition

The University of Reading officially recognises the BMU Foundation Programme, strengthening academic ties and international credibility.

MAY 2023

QMU Validation (UG)

Queen Margaret University validates BMU’s undergraduate programmes, confirming their quality and international standards.

OCTOBER 2023

New Campus

BMU moves to a new, modern campus on the eastern side of Tashkent, providing students with state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant academic environment.

MAY 2024

QMU Validation (PG)

Queen Margaret University validates BMU’s postgraduate (MSc) programmes, further expanding opportunities for advanced study.

NOVEMBER 2024

First Graduates (UG)

BMU celebrates the graduation of its first undergraduate (BSc and BBA) students, marking a significant milestone in the university’s history.
