London, 13 May 2026 — British Management University (BMU) has signed Memorandums of Understanding with three Turkmen institutions on the sidelines of the UK–Turkmenistan B2B Trade Mission, which brought nearly 30 Turkmen businesses to London this week for a programme of structured matchmaking, negotiations, and site visits across five priority sectors.
The agreements were signed by Professor Siddharth Saxena, BMU's Vice-Rector for Research and Director of the Cambridge Central Asia Forum at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, with the following counterparts:
Juma Gurbanov, Founder of Perzent Education Center; Magtymguly Hojamyradov, Director of TurkmenExpo; and Vepa Malikgulyyev, Director of the Market Access and Policy Centre (MAP Centre) under the Turkmen Congress ES.
The three MOUs are focused on expanding BMU's presence and services in Turkmenistan. The areas of cooperation include student exchanges and recruitment, prospective BMU pathway programmes in Turkmenistan, and the expansion of the university's marketing activities within the country.
The signings reflect the growing demand across Central Asia for UK-standard higher education and come at a time of deepening bilateral ties. In February 2026, the UK and Turkmenistan signed a cooperation programme for 2026–2027, and new MOUs were concluded between Turkmen institutions and UK education and assessment bodies at the first Central Asia–UK Ministerial Summit.
The UK–Turkmenistan B2B Trade Mission, running 11–15 May 2026 in London, is co-organised by TurkmenExpo, the West London Chambers of Commerce, and MAP Centre, with institutional backing from the Embassy of Turkmenistan in London, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. Education is one of the mission's five target sectors, alongside agri-food, textiles, tourism, and construction.
